Tour
Kistolmács (Starting point from railway)
The small railway network of Csömödér State Forest Railway is the largest in Hungary, with a total length of more than 100 kilometres. Nowadays, the forest railway runs on a regular basis from May to September, but on request, they also provide special trains at different times. The journey from Kistolmács to Bázakerettye to the bottom is approx. 20-25 minutes.
Bázakerettye lower station
We land on the second base station of the railway. In the case of an organized tour, we will be our guide from the station. We start on the blue sign in the north direction, then turn on the blue + sign southwest. The road goes uphill on a low traffic traverse.
Hungarian Oil Industry Museum, Ernő Buda Memorial Statue
During our tour we see a working pumpkin (deep pump) and we can stop at the memorial site near Budafa 2nd as well. The museum is located in the branch of the Budafa II oil collection station (located by the Hungarian Oil Industry Museum in Zalaegerszeg) in the branch of the Lispe-Kiscsehi. In the storages, the original documents show the life of oil miners.
We will turn back from the museum, and after approx. 600 m from the crossing in an unmarked dirt road turn south until the red mark is reached. From here, we follow the sign of the pier in an eastern direction on a forested area. When we reach the blue sign, we turn north and soon arrive at the settlement.
