Doll Museum, Keszthely

The Doll Museum was opened in the 1999 in an old granary built in 1958. The aim of founding the museum was to show locals and tourists the rich folk costumes and folk architecture of Hungary. This is the largest of such exhibitions in Central Europe with over 500 ceramics or porcelain dolls dressed in traditional costumes.

Besides the dolls showing the folk, worker's and civic costumes of Greater Hungary, there are also 120 figures showing the clothes worn by people from Transylvania.

On the first and second floors we can see costumes of the Matyó, Palóc and Kalocsaian people. The third floor contains maquettes of folk churches, houses, farm buildings, water- and windmills. These 1:25 scale models are made of authentic materials and were modeled closely after real buildings.

Besides the dresses and buildings, we can also see miniatures of luxury ships, army vessels and ferries.
